What Does It Really Mean to be ‘Fit’?

“Oh hey, what’s your Instagram handle?”

“It’s @thefitbritt.”

*small chuckle while looking it up*

You probably don’t know this but I am the most fit I have ever been in my life.  I always get a laugh when I tell people what my Instagram handle is because I don’t exactly look appear to fit in the category that the world deems to be “fit”.  Did you know that there are several definitions of the word fit? And only ONE of them actually refers to one’s physical shape?

Fit (adj): of a suitable quality, standard, or type to meet the required purpose; acceptable from a particular viewpoint; in good health, especially because of regular exercise

Fit (verb): fix or put (something) into place

Do you see what I mean? You probably are sitting there thinking “hmm…I actually may be more ‘fit’ than I thought!” Who has the right to deem that you are not of “suitable quality to meet a required purpose” other than yourself? Who deserves to tell you that you are “acceptable” other than yourself? YOU are the only one that truly knows yourself, so shouldn’t you be in charge of deciding what “fit” means to you?

I am here to shatter the stigma of what we all consider to be “fit”.  As I mentioned, I have never been more “fit” in my life.  I am romantically fit because I am in a healthy and fruitful relationship with a man who loves me (and I love too) and thinks of the world of me (as I think of him).  I am working on being financially fit because I strive to save more money every day in my many savings accounts to help prepare for my future with the aspiration of putting some zeroes at the end of those balances.  I am striving on being physically fit as I work out 5-6 days a week and eat according to the macronutrients my body needs while remembering to have fun and enjoy living a balanced life.  I am determined to be emotionally fit by understanding my anxiety and stress and addressing issues as they arise rather than ignoring them.  I am motivated to be professionally fit as I have a fantastic “day” job, am working on my doctorate in management and hoping to build my own brand on the side.  And I am family fit, working on being closer every day to those who I love and learning from every relationship (friends are family too!).

Being “fit” is so much more than just being able to run marathons or having a six pack (although, I wouldn’t mind having the ability to have either).  It is about being an all-around fit person for yourself, for your loved ones, and for your future.  This blog is a document of my journey to be more fit and help others find ways to make their life more fruitful on their journey to ‘fitdom’ (pretty sure I may have made that word up).  I want to inspire you to take control of every aspect of your life and make it fit from YOUR PERSONAL VIEWPOINT.  Not from what the world deems as being “fit”.  I’m starting this blog to share my successes, struggles, and learnings on my journey to become the ultimate version of myself: The Fit Britt.

I’m already well on my way, are you ready to start your journey? Stay tuned for recipes, workouts, financial advice, love life resurrection and so much more! If you don’t want to miss out, subscribe below to get notified when my posts go live!

I precisely wanted to thank you so much once more. I am not sure the things that I might have undertaken without the type of pointers contributed by you over that theme. Entirely was a real frustrating problem in my cicnamsturces, however , witnessing your well-written style you solved the issue made me to cry with gladness. Now i am thankful for the information as well as have high hopes you recognize what a great job you have been providing teaching other individuals through your blog.
